Asset Store giveaway for itch.io owners


Hello everyone! It’s now more than a week since I released Edgar on the Unity Asset Store. Since then, some people have asked me whether it’s possible to get the Asset Store version if they already own it here on itch.io. Unfortunately, I can only give a limited number of vouchers per year, which means that I cannot possibly give a voucher to every owner here on itch.

I decided to do a giveaway of 4 vouchers for the Unity Asset Store. My goal with this giveaway is to target active users of Edgar who regularly update to new versions of the assets and can, therefore, get the most out of the integration with the Asset Store.

Rules

  • You must own Edgar here on itch.io (purchased before the Asset Store release)
  • You must be using at least version 2.0.0-beta.0 or newer

How to enter - Post a comment under this post that contains the following:

  • At least 4 screenshots of your project in which you use Edgar
  • The screenshots can contain (but are not limited to):
    • a level generated with Edgar
    • a level graph that you use to generate levels
    • a room template
    • any interesting use of Edgar
  • The screenshots should be somehow related to using Edgar
  • Also include a screenshot where a level was generated and it shows in the console that the version of Edgar is at least 2.0.0-beta.0 or newer (Edgar outputs this when a level is being generated)
  • You’re also encouraged to describe what you’re doing (even a single sentence would be great!)

Duration The giveaway starts when this post is published and ends on 20.03.2022 at 15:00 CET.

Prizes 4 winners will be picked at random from all the submissions that follow the rules. Each winner will get one voucher for the Unity Asset Store version of Edgar.

I reserve all rights to change the rules of the giveaway if needed.

I'm using Edgar for a top-down shooter roguelike. I use the fog of war and minimap features in addition to the level generation. After a year of work I finished a POC of the game and am now working on art (not in the screenshots) and a bigger POC version.

Since you already confirmed that you will continue to update Edgar on itch.io as well, then I have no reason to enter this giveaway for the asset store release. I'll continue to use the itch.io version for my projects :)

I am using Edgar in a dungeon crawler type rpg for android.

The design part of the rooms is still under development, at the moment I have generic rooms to test the functionalities. Most are just square.

There are different level graphs that load different types of levels: depending on the difficulty, the area of the map, if it is a level with a final boss, etc.

I have defined different types of rooms: generic, traps, treasure, puzzles, battle, etc, which load some room templates or others.

I have made tools to position decorative objects in the room templates according to the type of room, as well as traps, chests, lights, etc.


I have 'secret' rooms programmed that are loaded dynamically after generating the level graph.

I use fow on the minimap, which works really well.

For all this I use custom input tasks, custom tilemap layers structure, custom post proccess tasks, etc.
